Qingdao Neighborhoods, Locations and Districts
(Qingdao, Shandong, China)
Qingdao enjoys a peninsula setting and is split into a total of seven major districts, of which the majority are predominantly industry orientated. However, the city of Qingdao is large and the Shinan and Laoshan districts provide the most in the way of the tourist facilities, being easy to access.
Both of these districts offer a good deal of space in which to distribute visitor-friendly establishments and locations. The historic side of the city is known locally as 'laochéng qu' and is particularly appealing, lying on the western side of Qingdao. To the east, the main areas of commerce, industry, shopping districts and restaurant strips all await.
Shinan / Downtown District
Otherwise known as downtown, this is a popular area with tourists, offering some of the best hotels and amenities. You will also find the Qingdao Railway Station located in this district, the famous Badaguan Scenic Area and all of the city's glorious beaches and secluded bays.
Huangdao District
The Huangdao district is in fact an island lying southwest of the city and is an area dedicated to industry. Here you will find the massive Huangdao Wharf, which is more than capable of accommodating some of the world's largest tanker ships.
Laoshan District
Located to the southeast of the Shinan district, Qingdao's Laoshan neighbourhood is extremely popular with tourists and is home to the spectacular Laoshan Mountains and National Park. There is no shortage of accommodation options for visitors in this part of the city.
Licang District
